Last week some time Google quietly opened it’s own online video rental store, with most titles at $1.99 and ofcourse its Google Checkout only! Unfortunately, like most new things, particularly around media content, it’s only available in the US for the moment but if you want to check out the store, just Google it, click on the cached version and you can actually click through the entire store, but not onto any single item as that will spit you out onto a random page with a country error!

This is a pretty scary thing for a lot of businesses out there. Google is fast moving from linking business and consumer together to being the business itself, and I wonder what kind of impact, if they get it right, this might actually have on the entire movie rental industry? (via PSFK)
