Zaraguza are claiming to have created the world’s first real time Facebook cover image, which updates at what looks like every minute or so, by posting a new image into a Facebook album which is sucked into the Cover image automatically, and is refreshed when new people hit the page or click the refresh button. Kinda cool, I suspect this will start trending. What do you think?

This is cool but wouldn’t it be more time consuming and nobody is going to come by a Fan page and wait for the images to flicker one by one as it is happening right now…
It took almost 5 minutes for me to understand that the cover image is changing and is being captured live.. It is cool and would attract fans but needs to be faster and a bit of help from some app by Facebook itself…
Not the first one. In France a TV show called Secret Story, + an event promotions page (among others) have already used the technology. Check out http://www.live-cover.com/ (French) to see all the pages that already have done that.
Not sure I find cover photos that interesting, but the technology can be used for cooler things I’m sure.
Nice little trick… But please, ‘Press F5 to refresh’??? As if everybody is still using microsoft PC’s…
These live stream from agency things are kinda cool, but mostly lame (we did a few with FWA with live music gigs and such), the guys at DT Digital did an awesome live stream for xmas where you got to shoot the staff with paint balls, literally. It was gold. Anything more generic like this is kinda weird.
Interesting execution though, props for the technical approach – if it actually works.

Interesting. Can you imagine someone like Lady Gaga using this to showcase her getting ready for a concert? Something like that could be huge.
At first, it reminded me of the Johnnie Walker Instagram Facebook cover (http://www.diageo.com/Lists/Resources/Attachments/1339/JW%20Launches%20Interactive%20Facebook%20Cover%20Photo_PR.pdf) but that’s more of a constantly changing image setup rather than a “real time” photo.
I think it’s a creative use of the space, it’s good to see it being used interestingly.
Sorry Marwann, Easyfan LiveCover was launched on September 2nd 2012. Zaraguza live cover was launched on July 30th 2012.

5200 ‘Likes’ is not really a huge enough number to tout this being a big success… page refresh? really?

Not sure this is compliant with Facebook rules, that prohibited using the cover picture for promotion purpose… So in a worse case scenario, Facebook shut downs your website for non compliancy and your buzz turns into a nightmare… Even more if you are an agency and have advice this to your clients…
