I love this student concept for Virgin, booking holidays based on the weather that you want, and what’s more, is that this is one of the more realistic, commercially aware concepts, again from the guys at the Miami Ad School who really do seem to be creating great young digital talent.
Basically the process works with users specifying the exact type of weather they want on a holiday, and what their maximum budget is, then the app scans (what I’m assuming!) is a global weather data base to match the requirements, before suggesting a few days out from flight time, the final destinations that have perfect weather. Clearly this would be for the more adventurous traveller! Created by students Otilia Dobrea and Glen Hansen.

I think it is a brilliant thought, however, it does not make sense for most of the world population where entry / visitation visa’s would be required for most non American and British citizens.
I think its a really fun idea and could work well for people looking for relatively cheap holidays. I wonder what would happen when the weather report is actually wrong.
Um, we already built this : http://www.bmibaby.com/bmibaby/inspire_me/place_picker.aspx
I can only imagine this appealing to the casual holidayer with more than a few spare quid in their pocket, (last minute flights aren’t always cheap), but it’s an interesting take on a process that is usually very dry and formulaic, nonetheless.
Established booking operators may do well to adapt upon this and integrate a weather forecast related search into their systems.

Great, but missing one thing: a tie in with a hotel. If you don’t have anywhere to stay when you get there you’re in trouble. All you would need to do is have it hold a room in a hotel, within a price range the user chooses, and you’re good to go.

This makes very, very little sense.
