Ubisoft and GAME have teamed up to launch an Augmented Reality iPad Game that lets you race cars from the new release around just about anywhere you can place a marker…
Once the app is loaded, you can start your race by pointing your iPad2 at the marker, from there it will setup your augmented reality track, allow you to choose your car and then let you loose to post the fastest possible lap time on a global leaderboard… On the first day, the app was downloaded over 6,000 times, hit the top 20 apps and was created by the guys at AGI.
I love the concept, but I can’t help feeling that AR on iPhones/iPads is still clunky. Thoughts?

Very interresting. Advergaming is the futur for all brands in a brandcontent strategy.
Game is an agency ? Have you a price for this app ? or is it free ?
Thanks
I love the concept of AR but still feel it feels a bit flat, and doesn’t really offer any added value to me as the user. If I could get extra levels, experiences within the game by playing the AR, or it is actually linked to part of the game storyline then this would be amazing.
This is a terrible marketing campaign and I wrote about it here:

I’m lost! Driving a little car around a fee obsticles… looks like an old-school Flash game of the late 1990′s!! The fact you can see the floor as your backdrop is wasting what AR can do.
There is very little visual depth, so to be honest it looks rather dull. I thought the whole point of AR was to add another layer on top of the real world (which can be reallly exciting) and from what I can see this example looks rather basic and adds very little.
Thumbs down.
