Digital Buzz Logo Upgrade
The guys in the office here have been playing around with the logo to much debate, so I thought I better throw it open to comment in the hope of finding a consensus on the direction for the logo upgrade! Personally I like the Buzz Icon on the left logo, but the text on the right logo… Hope you can help me out with a few comments?!

Come’on guys… this is a *slight* upgrade – better yes BUT hardly noticable to the regular Joe. SHIP it… then maybe down the track do a complete redo… then tell me to get excited about it.

Hi, I prefer the letters from the second (more simple) but the icon from the first (smaller)

      Hi to all marketing passionated

    3. Aden Hepburn Says:

Haha. Come on Bec – you know we don’t have any regular Joe’s reading digi buzz!! It’s all in the detail :) Oh, and we’ll get back to work!

    4. louis Says:

      I’d say the left one…

    5. Jack Says:

The kerning is all over the place.

    6. rebeccayik Says:

this is very true Aden… I suspose then I was hoping it was something SHOCKING, something controversial… something using the 960 grid system and passing WCAG 2 Level AAA in a custom typeface created by Paul Renner’s protégé.

    7. Aden Hepburn Says:

@bec… Ahh good point – it’s not 960 grid compliant – hence Jack’s comments on the kerning… Another lesson learned, I should have spotted it! We did choose web safe colours you’ll be glad to know!

    8. Paul Says:

the logo on the left has a better icon and the joining of the ‘g’ and dot of the ‘i’ is a nice touch. i like the consistent font of the right design however, and Jack is right, the kerning needs to be addressed.

    9. Bells and Whistles Marketing Says:

Try mirror imaging the g?s link with the second i dot to the first i as well. With some subtle manipulation, you will create a pair of insect antenna and your g will take on the personal of a bee. This will overcome the typographical inconsistency when you have two lowercase i?s treated differently. Drop the overweight ?buzz? on the right hand version, and finally follow the earlier post and get your kerning fixed!

Do you have to go with either? Neither of them did much for me. I think you guys deserve a much better logo. These options lack a bit of impact.

Having said that, great move to open it up for public discussion.

Good luck and keep this great blog going.

      Cheers,

      Vikram.

    11. Peterk Says:

I absolutly prefer the right style with the icon on the left.

    13. Pedro Andrade Says:

I prefer the left one, mostly ’cause of the icon.

But I think you could have gone a lot further, just by dropping the Digital word; as it is redundant and some of your posts are no so digital anyway (tv ads or marketing presentations for instance)

But most of all keep the good work; I just love it !

    14. Melanie Says:

As you are in the digital space I think you should think interactive and have the word buzz vibrate somehow.

As a marketing person I love your blog – so many ideas and much inspiration! Thanks Aden.

      Hey Guys,
Thanks for all the comments! :)
I’ve now uploaded the now logo with kerning fixed, fancy new G and the sweet icon upgrade!

    16. Margita Says:

Oh, I see you have already chosen. Thank God, it is not vibrating as Melanie suggests!
