In case you havn’t already seen it, I thought I’d post up the official Rio 2016 Olympic Bid Video. It’s beautifully shot, isn’t over the top and to me, really showcases the every day lifestyle that I’d think Rio was all about. In fact, the footage kind of reminds me of Australia’s lifestyle in a lot of ways… On the official website, they recorded over 5.8 million supporter votes for the games, which to me, seemed well underdone for an Olympic bid? But congratulations to Rio for the win!

Yeah I agree Aden, great video and it really captures the passion of their culture, rather than taking the angle of trying to be a ‘motivating sports video’. It feels cut from the same cloth as the Australian tourism ads, which I think will become a prevalent theme in these sort of bid videos. The thought of gaining an overall ‘experience’ will always outweigh a solitary sporting event, and will resonate with the general public and IOC Officials alike.

Great comment Jordy, couldn’t agree more. They had a subtle sporting theme through the video but really focused on the culture, the country and what makes it a great place. Can’t go wrong with that!

PS. You guys need to hook me up with a great snow deal – I’m hitting up Japan with 2-3 mates in Feb 2010, and am still looking for the best deal… BTW – why don’t you guys do Niseko?
