It’s here, finally, “Skimmer” is a social media application that lets you stream all your social media content into one sleek skimmer interface where you can hook up all your facebook, twitter, flickr, youtube & blogger accounts together so you save bucketloads of time managing them all. Plus, it’s built with the new Adobe Air, which will greatly enhance your social media experience from here on!
Interestingly enough, it’s from Fallon, a leading global ad agency. I guess this is multipurposed, so you can not only manage your own social accounts, but also your clients social media campaigns from a single interface (not bad eh?)! While i’m on Fallon, they are actually launching three things, the Skimmer app, new website and a new logo!
They messed up the codepage for non-US/EN keyboards, on a german one, trying to type @ will result in the application closing. You dont get too far that way (as the first thing you have to do is enter your email adress
)
Been trialling this myself over the week.
Hey Jye,
How are you finding it? I can’t say i’m loving it just yet, but then again i need to spend more than 2 mins on it to learn how to post my twitter comments… Great interface though…
Manuel, you’re absolutely right, you got us. Typical arrogant americans forgetting about the non-US/EN folks. We’ve logged it and hope to get a version out that corrects this in the near future. Sorry about that!

Hey Chris,
Thanks for taking the time to post, how long did the app take you guys to build and where did the inititive come from? Love to know more about it.
Aden.
Hi Aden,
The initiative came primarily from our belief as an agency that the best kind of marketing is less about interrupting people to say things to them, but instead about making things of actual value that people like and want to engage with. So to walk that talk, since our product is creativity, we thought we’d take a run at seeing if we could make something that filled a wish people had in the social media space. Something that wasn’t designed by developers (no offense to any other products intended). We also wanted a tool that would let us as an agency easily share the social activities of all our crazy & talented employees right on fallon.com (www.fallon.com/weare).
The product was well funded from a corporate website perspective, but not well funded at all from a software perspective. That’s one reason why we chose to focus only on improving the experience of the small number of high-frequency activities rather than trying to make something that is the single solution for everything. Ideally people will find Skimmer to be a nice compliment to the services they use. It’s certainly not intended to compete with those services in any way.
Thanks for asking.
OK Have spent some time with this and getting used to it. Interface is OK. I did have some issues getting all accounts to work.
I have decided that Fallon’s SKIMMER AIR app is the best social aggregator on the market. It could be faster and I would REALLY love to see an iPhone app to complement it when I’m on the go, but man…you can’t beat it.
Instead of trying to do EVERYTHING, it focuses on the core. Blog, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr. It just so happens that those are my main components on line for social interaction so it works out perfectly.
Thanks, a million for the great app Fallon. I hope it continues to grow!
