If you thought the last few projection mapping examples I posted were amazing, then check this out. Samsung have just run three nights of an amazing 3D projection mapping installation in Amsterdam to promote their new range of 3D LED TV’s.
Perfectly mapped to a historic building in Amsterdam, the projection realistically cracks the building in half, sending debris shattering down before it fills up with water and then drains into a rain forest revealing the new Samsung 3D LED TV! While I’ve seen other attempted 3D perspectives, this certainly has to be the best 3D experience I’ve seen from Projection mapping!
Hi,
I think I saw an ad about this on a Middle Eastern movie channel I watch.
It means they’ve gone the Sony and Fallon way very quickly!

Thanks for sharing our campaign! Please check the Twitter account http://www.twitter.com/samsung3devent for the update on the beginning of June. We’re going to integrate the projection into YouTube with a ‘game-take-over’. Something never done before, think you might like it
(but of course we’ll e-mail you the press release)
Hey Karlijn,
Sounds exciting, make sure you shoot me an email just before you guys go live with it, I’d love to post it up. Congratulations again on the campaign, the Samsung 3D Projection Mapping might just be the best I’ve ever seen!
Aden,
I really liked it and thought it was very impressive watching on a computer screen. But I wonder how impressive it really was in person. I only ask because there just seemed to be a whole lot of people just walking by oblivious to what was happening. I’d be interested to hear from someone who saw it in person, what effect it had.

Hi, please see the news report http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQWyOFIZhKs with some reactions from the people watching. I’m not really independent (it was my agency together with Starcom who we’re responsible for the project), but it was really a amazing thing to see.
So, so cool. Way better that the Waterloo execution.
Spellbinding!
[...] but sparingly placed throughout the experience, and in my mind, just not quite as amazing as the Samsung 3D Projection Mapping installation, however, it’s still one of the most innovative I’ve seen. Share This Digital Buzz [...]
Isn’t it embarrassing to see how many people walk by without actually watching this awesome peace of human technology?
Both the Samsung projection in Amsterdam and the BMW projection in Singapore were done by NuFormer Projection. More examples can be found on http://vimeo.com/nuformer/videos

[...] Our creative director Chris sent through this cool find from the guys at Digital Buzz. The 3D projection mapping on a historical building in Amsterdam is to promote the new range of Samsung LED 3D TV’s. The extraordinary projected animation sees the building crack open to reveal a utopian forest with vines engulfing the structure, goldfish swimming freely and butterflies escaping. A great stuff from the guys at Digital Buzz Blog and the crew at Samsung. Courtesy of Digital Buzz [...]
