The Red Hot Chili Peppers just took their latest music video to the next level by releasing the interactive gem above. The video incorporates a click-and-drag feature that allows viewers to explore different scenes in a panoramic manner. Click the “Show Hints” option to reveal even more interactive layers.
The non-interactive version of their single “Look Around” was released on January 26th, but the Red Hot Chili Peppers apparently have plans to go digital or go home. In addition to this interactive video, the band has a five-star rated (US iTunes) iPhone application to keep fans up to date on band news, tour info, and their twitter stream.
From Arcade Fire to OK Go to Danger Mouse, we are seeing more and more bands producing interactive music videos to keep their fans engaged. It’s an emerging trend we are definitely keeping our eye on. With the emergence of smart TVs, interactive video is poised to change the way we consume content at home.
Would be great if they could pan out to view all four panes. It’s fun but feels limited.
Agree Benn… It does need something just a little more to convince me!
Boring, what does it add? I’d rather see a creative video of what the artist wants us to see and feel and not have to push buttons.
