Red Cross Miles from Angeliki Karnoupaki on Vimeo.
Here is a nice little concept for Red Cross by a few students from the Miami Ad School in Europe. Instead of asking people to donate money the students came up with a concept whereby people could donate their air miles to transport Red Cross staff, therefore reducing the cost of aid.
By adding a “Donate your miles” button to flight booking websites people can donate their unwanted or unused air miles instead of donating money. This donation would lead to the Red Cross microsite where users can log in with their Twitter or Facebook account to track and share their donation and encourage friends to do the same. This is a simple but effective way of encouraging donations. Keep the great work coming guys!

good tie up with publishers. not sure of how simple it is to give, but if it is, then most everybody has a few miles they wouldn’t mind parting with.

[...] American Red Cross is initiating their social donation feature called “Donate your Miles,” which allows individuals to donate their frequent flyer miles to American Red Cross volunteers so they can travel to various places to support relief efforts in a natural disaster. They will also allow you to share this information via Twitter and Facebook – creating the opportunity to look at your own social influence in your social media community. In addition, the American Red Cross will show you through pictures, updates, and maps where your flight miles are going through your mobile device. [...]
