Need to charge your new electric car? There is an iPhone App for that too! It seems everyone has an iPhone these days, or everyone is developing an App for it. Nissan is reportedly in the prototype stages of developing an iPhone application that integrates the ubiquitous device with the onboard computer of the upcoming Nissan LEAF electric car which is due for release in Japan in 2010 and the United States in 2012.
The App is designed to be used when away from the vehicle and will be able to do some pretty awesome things like; tell you the amount of charge left in the batteries, the locations of nearby charging stations, the cost to recharge the car based on a charging station’s prices, and probably the best feature of them all (especially for those living in extremely hot or cold climates) is the ability to turn on the AC or heater before getting into the car!
