How good was Avatar? Every company known to man ran some sort of promotion to jump on the bandwagon, but this is just a little different. Mattel released an Augmented Reality Card with every single Avatar toy produced, all the characters, vehicles and creatures. The iTags as they have been named, come with different levels for interactivity – eg. a Character might be level 1 (gives you special information) while a vehicle might be level 2 (which gives you info plus live attack).
I think we will see a rush to this sort of additional interactivity / engagement from all sorts of products in 2010, and particularly in the toy / games industry – started late last year! You can check out the full range of iTags on Mattel here.
