Here’s the latest global social media campaign from KLM, and knowing the success of their past, this one has big things to live up to, and at first glance, it delivers in spades… A socially powered ‘Must See Map’ that aggregates everywhere your friends have been in a certain location, along with comments, tips and recommendations from your network.
So what’s new right? Well, not only can you choose your own map area, KLM will send you a high-quality print of the map, including all the social data, so you can get a little old school next time you travel. Slight shame it takes 3 weeks to be delivered, but then again, it’s free! Cool.
Looks like anonther top idea from KLM. I admire their social / digital work greatly. However, my only criticism is that the final outcome is a printed map. Surely it should stay within the realms of digital on a mobile device instead of a cumbersome tourist map? That was the first thing that sprang to mind. But, maybe it ends up as map due to the prohibitive roaming fees when abroad.
Hello Paul
That is a good point as everything these days are going mobile. I feel you should have the option to have both. By having the map as an app on your phone it can still be updated by your friends or even yourself for other people. On the other hand, depending on where you are going in the world you might not want to take you phone out and just us a map. But i do agree that having it on a phone would be the better option.
Nice, but who got internet on mobile in a foreign country ?

I may be the old fashioned one here – but when abroad, there’s nothing like a good paper map, and a sharp pencil!
