This is a nice idea for an iPhone app from Swedish sandwich spread brand Kalles Kaviar. The concept was designed by digital agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky Europe to assist users when creating a perfect filling for their sandwich to accompany the brand’s caviar spread. The app not only tells you how to boil the perfect egg, it will put together a playlist that, when finished, means your egg is ready. It’s clearly a hit with caviar/egg lovers – the app has already has more than 50,000 downloads and is the third most downloaded in the free app section in the Swedish iTunes AppStore.

Nice, but I’m sure Poke did something like this as an internal pro active idea a few months back. I think their timer pulled videos from youtube to match your boil time as opposed to the playlist.
Sure, this would work great for the sole purpose of timing the perfect boil time on an egg. But, if you want a timer app that is more versatile and can do so much more. You should take a look at Elapsed (http://www.elapsedapp.com).
Elapsed lets you track multiple timers concurrently, save frequently used timers as presets for easy reuse and triggers alerts even while the App is not running. You’ll find it a significant upgrade from the default timer that ships with the iPhone.
