That just craziness on the part of CMO's. They could be enjoying natural SEO, building rapport with existing customers and potential ones, securing their places as thought leaders in the industry, offering updates and insights into their product lines and the industry, and so much more. Don't they know blogs and twitter are best buddies, and walk hand-in-hand down the social media alleys, as blogs are some of the most retweeted content? Since blogs are known to be one of the best inbound marketing strategies/ways to generate traffic to a website, I'm astounded by these market leaders ignoring the beauty and bounty of the blog.

It makes sense to me that most (65%) Fortune 100 global companies would engage in twitter, as they need to monitor conversations about themselves and engage.

What really surprises me is the low blogging activity.

Only 33% dedicate resources to have a blog?! The ease of Twitter would be a big one for sure, as Brad says.

A lovely infographic that would be rendered so much more useful with analysis and critique?

I’d be interested to hear more opinions on why so few companies use all four platforms, and why they choose one over another. Twitter is one of the easiest platforms for large companies to use when wading into social media. It's easy to set up and monitor, and often it's easier to convince the legal department that it's a safe platform - not that the others aren't. It's just easier to justify. Twitter also gets less scrutiny by internal rules around blocked sites. One of Facebook's biggest downfalls is the chat feature, which scares both legal and IT departments. (I don't make these rules, I just follow them, btw.) @bradmays

Not surprising.
