HBO have launched their latest digital campaign for season 4 of True Blood, creating a Facebook app called “Immortalize Yourself” that plays out a unique, customised video featuring you and your friends… You can choose who features in it, or let it pick randomly from your profile…
If you are a huge fan, this is pretty cool, but isn’t unique by any means, and I think we could all find a few recent campaigns that have used this Facebook Connect functionality to create a bespoke video on the fly. So the question I have for you, is does that matter?
Should HBO have tried to create something more unique for its near 8 million Facebook Fans? Or is it smarter (safer?) going down a proven path where they know this exact content strategy generates traction and shareability with a degree of ease? Would love to hear your thoughts!

True nothing original here however it’s pretty well executed. The duration seems a bit long so it could have done with some more editing.
Everyone is jumping on the Facebook connect bandwagon these days. Does any one have any privacy concerns around Facebook or Twitter connect?

I like the way they handled invitations on the end, much smarter than just ‘invite your friends’ it actually makes you choose those few pals.
Maybe it would be better to choose something more original but i guess they didn’t have any better idea than this well crafted and sure to go campaign.
Not a very mind blowing idea, but I still like it nonetheless…
What other examples are there of inserting facebook information into video’s on the fly? Obviously this and Museum of Me spring to mind. What else is good?
