Guinness has teamed up with Blippar to create a Christmas themed Augmented Reality experience called “Decorate Your Pint”. Utilising Blippar’s image recognition technology the app detects a pint of Guinness and instantly overlays Augmented Reality controls so you can decorate your pint on the fly, before saving the image and sharing with friends on Facebook and Twitter.
This instance looks a little clunky, but I love where they are trying to take the idea. I’m not sure Blippar’s engine is that powerful just yet, but I wouldn’t be supplies to see it step up with the next release as more global brands jump on-board. What do you guys think?

Like so many of these executions, there is clearly potential for AR to develop, but at this stage this is a pointless execution that adds very little to the user.
Roll on 2012 and some progress!
I agree. This app has a lot of potential. But this Guinness example lacks heart and consumer focus? I noted my thoughts here: http://thewebstrategyguide.com/guinness-blippar-augmented-reality-app-improved-mobil/
