Greenpeace is now battling Mark Zuckerburg and Facebook  with this new campaign highlighting the need for leading companies to source environmentally friendly electricity, instead of “dirty old coal”… and it seems to be getting a pretty good reception so far with over 500,000 people joining the petition to demand Facebook gets off coal powered electricity.

You can join the campaign here, and read the blog posts here and here. Thoughts on this?

This is the most irritating campaign I’ve ever seen. First off, it makes it look like most people have a choice about what kind of energy is available, which most people don’t. And why pinpoint Mark? Google and Microsoft use up way more power with their servers than facebook does. Not to mention the fact that the girls voice is not cute or girly, it’s simply annoying.

Not a fan of this particularly, but I can see the value.
