This is probably the coolest vending machine you’ve ever seen! The new Coca-Cola Interactive vending machine won a Gold Cannes Lion in 2009 and will be rolled out across the globe over the next 12 months. Coke say they are moving their vending machines from generic product selection to experiential marketing experiences for every consumer.
The new Coca-Cola Interactive vending machine gives you a full touch screen experience with great content while ordering custom coke bottles in full HD. Very very cool. (thanks Stevo!)

I hate technology for technology’s sake. This must waste so much power compared to just having a strip light in there. I’m sure I’m being hypocritical with my macbook right here in front of me, but we gotta draw the line somewhere.
Sorry for the un-advertising/marketing related rant. I love your blog.

I happen to agree with Tom.
Not only is the vending machine bad for the environment, it is just not a practical solution for buying a soft drink. Where will the machines be placed, on train stations? how will they cope with vandalism and excessive use? In a public environment how much time would you actually spend interacting when you really just want a drink? I also wonder how much they cost? Only a powerhouse such as Coca-Cola could make something like this happen. A cool branding initiative, I just dont see it as practical.

Type A personalities will hate it because the person ahead of them will 15-minutes to decide what to order.

Yeah I agree – it will be a 5 minute purchase per bottle or longer for people wanting to play with the vending machine… But it seems they will only be rolled out around the world for events, festivals and in key locations. So you probably won’t see them on the local train station being kicked in

Another example of how we use technology for the sake of winning gold… Amazing interface, but very impractical!

Either that guy has massive hands or they’ve shrunk the bottles to squeeze the extra technology into the vending machine!

See the size of his shoulders? That bottle was normal

They can make a cool machine but the audio on the video sucks!
