Check out GE’s first ever iAd. It’s called “Simple Harmony” and is part of the Ecomagination campaign that focuses on helping people, nature and industry coexist in harmony. The iAd experience is quite quirky, with catchy lyrics and funky animation, but the app is still educationally driven with people shaking, swiping and spinning parts of the app to lean how cool GE innovations are making the world a better place. The campaign also extends out into YouTube, with an interactive video demo of the iAd. Nice work BBDO NYC. (thanks Kristin)
I was of the belief that BIG SPACESHIP built out GE’s latest Ecoimagination platform? See http://www.bigspaceship.com/portfolio/healthymagination
If this is true, should we really be patting BBDO NYC on the back for contracting the work out?
“and you come across this intriguing GE iAd and think “Hmm, whats this…” Ahh – maaaaybe but they could have made it a bit more intriguing IMO. The iAd itself is great and has a really nice tone and art direction but they could’ve spent a bit more time on hooking people in with a better banner. Also most iAD interactions these days seem very simplistic and not very engaging, but this was the same with online interactive advertising when it started out and it took a while for people to really untilise this interaction in a smart way. I reckon this same learning curve needs to be applied to iAds. Simpling shaking, dragging or turning something to make it play seems a little redundant. But it’s still early days I guess…
so you’re tapping along on one of your favorite apps and suddenly an intriguing ad appears. you think to your self…”why the fuck is there an ad in the middle of this column and why the fuck is mashable selling such annoying ad space, fuck this, im going back to words with friends”
