I love it when brands move from their core product or service and create a new product or object that helps enhance their brand experience… Well, that’s exactly what Evian Water has just done in Paris with the Smart Drop Project, a new, connected digital object that looks great and also orders your water as you need it.
The Evian connected object is a beautiful little device, very Mac I guess you’d say… It connects to your standard home WiFi network to transmit new orders right from the fridge door! The Smart Drop is made up of a microcontroller, LED screen, a wireless chip, battery and an inbuilt HTML5 app that does all the work… A very cool piece from the guys at BETC Digital and Josh Fire. (thanks Ben!)

I think this is a great idea however if you only ordering one bottle of evian a week is a little pointless.
The cost associated for delivery, production of product, R&D would completely outweigh the cost of this idea. I would love to see the results on this puppy and the uptake of it as I would like to be proven wrong
Totally useless gadget, ideas such as this will encourage companies to unsustainable development. This makes me sad.
I think it looks super sweet, and I would live to have one on my fridge. But why? I would normally just add the water to my normal shop, which can be done from my smartphone, seems this gadget creates an extra unnecessary task…
…and Evian spelled backwards is Naive.
really sad.. whats the point ? who will use it or install it ? why on earth will someone use it..
I dont think its useless – there have been perceptions in France (dating back along time) that the water from mains is unsafe to drink. Whilst this its probably untrue – those who believe this still represent a significant segment of the French market. This is a clever idea
