Columbia Sportswear A Box Life Campaign
This is a great eco-friendly initiative from Columbia Sportswear, it not only helps save the environment, but ads a level of engagement around every delivery! The new campaign is pretty simple, when ordering online you can elect to get your goods delivered in a “box for life” used box, each one contains a unique QR Code that is tracked every where it goes, and once you receive the box, you scan the QR code, and then share your story on the site.

It’s then plotted live on Google Maps where you can see every destination that box has been and read stories from the people who received it. The website tracks the number of people who’ve been using the “A Box Life” feature, the total miles the boxes have travelled and how many have been saved so far! The one thing it doesn’t calculate, and I wish it did, is the number of trees saved from recycling boxes. Not over the top, just a little different. Click here to check it out.

Not sure this effort, which requires, work and extra clicks on the consumers part, either truly engages or saves carbon. It does remind me of the three merrell boxes in my garage.

Still not in the brand genre of a Patagonia

I think this is a great idea!
