Coca-Cola celebrated their 125 year anniversary in style this week with the world’s largest single building illumination to send a “Thank You” message to all their fans and supporters. This spectacular projection mapping display covered the whole of the Coca-Cola headquarters tower in Atlanta, which stands at 26 stories high. The display uses 45 projectors and covers a total of 200,000 square feet of projection surface. This giant visual event was created and designed by Obscura Digital.
The 2 hour show features the iconic Coca-Cola contour bottle projected in 3D along with imagery from a library of 125 years of Coca-Cola advertising. If you thought that was impressive the display also features real-time technology to integrate live social-media components displaying photos posted by Facebook fans from across the world.
Coca-Cola even went to the effort of making sure that the carbon emissions from this event will be offset in support of Georgia’s Valley Wood Carbon Sequestration Project.
This is a pretty amazing projection mapping event and it really raises the bar in terms of the kind of projection mapping that we are increasingly seeing. Great work Obscura Digital, I can’t wait to see what you’ll be doing next. What do you all think of this one?
